The gospel of Matthew 6:7-15 presents our Lord Jesus Christ as the Master of Prayer. He is the Most prayerful Man the world has ever known. Prayer was like food to him. Prayer itself is the channel through which we communicate with our unseen Heavenly Father. It is solution to most of our problem. With prayer all things are possible! The best thing he did for his disciples was to teach them how to pray.
In today's gospel our Lord Jesus Christ told his followers,
“In praying do not heap up empty phrases as
the Gentiles do; for they think that they will be heard for their many words. Do not be like them, for your Father knows
what you need before you ask him." Prayer is faith exercise. We don't need to over stress ourselves in prayer.
Jesus then taught his followers the best way to pray, He said "Pray then like this:
Our Father who art in heaven,
Hallowed be thy name.
Thy kingdom come,
Thy will be done,
On earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread;
And forgive us our trespasses,
As we forgive those who trespass against
us;
And lead us not into temptation,
But deliver us from evil.
For if you forgive men their trespasses,
your heavenly Father also will forgive you; but if you do not forgive men their
trespasses neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.”
This is the best form of prayer. It contains everything we need here on earth. The best part of this prayer is the part that links us with God the father. We can now address God as our Father. Since God is our father, He will surely provide for all our needs. To him be glory and praise both now and forevermore - Amen!
Forever and ever, Amen.
